RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.
April 23th 2019: Ranches Ladies AGM
It’s time for our 2019 Ranches Ladies AGM. Most of us would be lost without the circles, outings, entertainment and friendships all made possible by membership of Ranches Ladies. Do pop along and show your support in a short celebration of 13 years of our fabulous club at 10.30-11am.
Also joining us for a morning of beauty and giveaways will be the ladies from Transform Body Ladies Centre in Motor City. During the morning they will offer nail polish change, head and shoulders massage and mini Dermalogica facials. Each lady will leave with a Dermalogica goodie bag. And we will find out more about their services.

On Tuesday 16th April we had an adventure bound programme at RL social morning. Sonia Rixon from Grit Girls talked to us about her passion for dirt bikes and her quest to get more women involved in this exhilarating sport, to release our inner grit and determination alongside the best of the best. Could dirt biking could be your new weekend pastime? A number of RL members think it could and have signed up for one of Grit Girls upcoming taster sessions. Find them on FB.
Come along to Oasis Fashion in Wafi Mall between 10-1pm Sunday 28th April for a morning of special discounts for RL members. Come along to get your summer wardrobe sorted out and browse Angela’s new stock.

We have extended the period of time to collect bread making ingredients to the last Tuesday in April so we have 2 weeks of collecting (which you can bring with you to the golf club reception desk or upstairs to the Baker Finch room.) Your support is much appreciated so please bring whatever you can spare.

Both our 2 new proposed circles commenced this week. The gourmet Italian cultural morning at Eataly restaurant in Dubai Mall started on Thursday morning 18 April. Ladies enjoyed a tour of the store with sample tastings followed by a hands on bread making session. Chef Marcello did a marvellous job teaching the ladies bread making and Italian. Whilst the bread was baking the ladies took part in an Italian conversation lesson. We were able to take fresh baked bread away with us. Today the 4 week silk painting class with Rajul will also start in Mirador on Arabian Ranches. There will be 2 sessions a week, Sunday 11-1pm and Tuesday evenings.
Quilters Circle said a fond farewell and many thanks to Monika Jozsa for her leadership over the last two years. Monika has now passed the baton to Bronwyn Pontes we wish Bronwyn all the very best in her new role. The Quilters are soon off to their annual retreat and with the Dubai international quilt show on the horizon for 2020 we look forward to seeing some magical creations from these talented ladies.
This Week
The Book Circle will meet today at AR golf club, Sunday 21st April. The book we are reading is “I Was Told To Come Alone” by Souad Mekhennet.
Newcomers’ Coffee Morning will take place on Thursday 25th April from 9.30am upstairs in Shakespeare’s Cafe in Arabian Ranches 1 community centre. Helen is your host and you can enjoy coffee and conversation with new friends.
Also on 25th April is the second Italian Culture Circle meeting at Eataly restaurant in Dubai Mall from 10am. This week will highlight Ravioli!
The Gardening Circle is meeting again on 25th to visit some of the some of the best voted landscaped gardens in the Arabian Ranches and Emirates Living communities which competed at Emaar Community Management’s 2019 annual competition. Meet at 9.15am in AR Golf Club car park if you would like to come along.
The Scottish Dancing circle, led by Carole, meets every Wednesday morning at AR golf club from 9.30am.
The Walking Fitness Circle meets every Wednesday at 7.00am prompt outside Caribou Cafe at AR1 community centre. Meet Alex or Julie and walk for 5 miles then enjoy a drink at Costa.
The Cinema Circle meets every Monday morning to go and watch one of the latest films, chosen each week from a choice of 3, usually at Vox Cinema in Mall of the Emirates and then everyone enjoys a coffee and chat about what they’ve just seen afterwards.

The Mosaics Circle meetings will be held next month on Thursday 1st and 15th May.
Previous Trips
10th April 2019: Dubai Design District
On 10th April the RL trip went to the Dubai Design District to visit 3 exceptional exhibitions held by the Paris based School of Jewelry and Arts “L’Ecole” (visiting Dubai for only a few days).
We had a wonderful morning viewing the treasures of Saudi Arabia and the Aga Khan’s incredible collection of Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels Art Deco vanity boxes. Finally we had a great talk about the amazing trade in pearls between France and the Gulf states in the early twentieth century.
We were also offered this great advice, soak your pearls overnight in water from time to time to rehydrate them. This can improve their lustre!
