Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.

Grit Girls!!
We have an exciting programme at RL social morning on Tuesday 16th! Martinette Van Vuuren, senior manager of talent acquisition at Careem by day, will talk to us about her thrilling interest in dirt bikes and her quest to get more women involved in this exhilarating sport, releasing their inner grit and determination alongside the best of the best. Come along to hear why dirt biking could be your new weekend pastime!

On Tuesday 9th April 2 Wise Women Loraine and Becks presented a lovely talk on how their life stories have shaped their lives and encouraged them to spread the message on living a chemical free lifestyle and you can reap the benefits of yoga to support us in our daily lives. They offer yoga workshops, breathing techniques, meditation, chakra balancing and natural products to help you lead a healthier and more mindful life.

We have 2 new proposed circles, a gourmet Italian cultural morning at Eataly restaurant in Dubai Mall on a Thursday morning from 18 April and a 4 week silk painting class with Rajul in Mirador on Arabian Ranches. These are being finalised so please register your interest now if you would like to join them.
Silk Painting Circle
Rajul is an experienced artist and you will learn some fantastic artistic skills to create some lovely works. Rajul predicts you will complete up to 2 silk paintings over 4 weeks.
Italian Culture Circle
Paola’s Italian Culture Circle will be based at Eataly Restaurant at Dubai Mall on a Thursday Morning starting on April 18th for 5 weeks. Each week the restaurant chef will showcase an Italian food item such as pasta, Italian bread, Mozzarella, and show you how it is made, talk about the history and allow you to taste it. The second hour will be an Italian language lesson.

This Week
The Quilters Circle meet today at AR Golf Club from 9.30am.
The Literary Lunch Circle will meet tomorrow Monday 15th April. The chosen book is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, a great book!
The next Mosaics Circle meeting will be held on Thursday 17th April.
Beginner’s Spanish 1 takes place on Sundays at 5.30pm and Beginner’s Spanish 2 is at 1.30pm on Mondays. Please get in touch if you would like to learn or improve your Spanish language skills.
The Walking Fitness Circle meets every Wednesday at 7.00am prompt outside Caribou Cafe at AR1 community centre. Meet Alex or Julie and walk for 5 miles then enjoy a drink at Costa.
The Cinema Circle meets every Monday morning to go and watch one of the latest films, chosen each week from a choice of 3, usually at Vox Cinema in Mall of the Emirates and then everyone enjoys a coffee and chat about what they’ve just seen afterwards. What an enjoyable way to see the latest movies with friends!
Coming Up Soon
The Book Circle will meet again on Sunday 21st April. The book we are reading is “I Was Told To Come Alone” by Souad Mekhennet.
Newcomers’ Coffee Morning will take place on Thursday 25th April from 9.30am upstairs in Shakespeare’s Cafe in Arabian Ranches 1 community centre. Helen is your host and you can enjoy coffee and conversation with new friends.

19th April 2019 : Gatsby on the QE2
This immersive experience brings the novel The Great Gatsby to life and will take place across all 3 decks of the majestic QE2 moored at Port Mina Rashid in Bur Dubai. Join Ranches Ladies for a magnificent Ladies Only night aboard this iconic ship and celebrate the Gatsby Era in full flappertastic attire. This will be a fun night!

Previous Trips
10th April 2019: Dubai Design District
On 10th April the RL trip went to the Dubai Design District to visit 3 exceptional exhibitions held by the Paris based School of Jewelry and Arts “L’Ecole” (visiting Dubai for only a few days).
We had a wonderful morning viewing the treasures of Saudi Arabia and the Aga Khan’s incredible collection of Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels Art Deco vanity boxes. Finally we had a great talk about the amazing trade in pearls between France and the Gulf states in the early twentieth century.
We were also offered this great advice, soak your pearls overnight in water from time to time to rehydrate them. This can improve their lustre!
We are privileged to get to see exhibitions like this. Thank you Allison for arranging the trip.
