RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.

Announcements
On Tuesday 2nd April we met Nada Ahmed at the RL Social Morning. 2019 is the UAE Year of Tolerance and Nada hosted a discussion about the concept of diversity in the UAE and explored the benefits of tolerance and diversity in our community of Dubai. This was a fascinating discussion and we are very grateful to Nada for coming to our social morning.

We have 2 new proposed circles, a gourmet Italian cultural morning at Eataly restaurant in Dubai Mall on a Thursday morning from 18 April and a 4 week silk painting class with Rajul in Mirador on Arabian Ranches.
Silk Painting Circle
Rajul would like to start a silk painting circle. She will supply the materials and the expert tuition to give you a basic understanding of the techniques, materials and methods used in silk painting over 4 weeks. Rajul is offering Sunday or Thursday mornings from 11-1pm at her home in Mirador on Arabian Ranches. She is an experienced artist and you will learn some fantastic artistic skills to create some lovely works. Rajul predicts you will complete up to 2 silk paintings over 4 weeks.

Italian Culture Circle
Paola’s Italian Culture Circle will be based at Eataly Restaurant at Dubai Mall on a Thursday Morning starting on April 18th for 5 weeks. Each week the restaurant chef will showcase an Italian food item such as pasta, Italian bread, Mozzarella, and show you how it is made, talk about the history and allow you to taste it.
Session 1 -make Italian Bread April 18th
Session 2 – make Ravioli April 25th
Session 3 – make Mozzarella cheese May 2nd
Session 4 – make Tiramisu May 9th
Session 5 – make Focaccia bread May 16th
The second hour is a lesson by qualified Italian language teachers for beginners and advanced students. There will be 5 sessions in total and a minimum of 5 people must attend. You need not commit to all the sessions. Jenny will give more details if you email her.

This Week
Beginner’s Spanish 1 takes place on Sundays at 5.30pm and Beginner’s Spanish 2 is at 1.30pm on Mondays. Please get in touch if you would like to learn or improve your Spanish language skills.
The Walking Fitness Circle meets every Wednesday at 7.00am prompt outside Caribou Cafe at AR1 community centre. Meet Alex or Julie and walk for 5 miles then enjoy a drink at Costa.
The Cinema Circle meets every Monday morning to go and watch one of the latest films, chosen each week from a choice of 3, usually at Vox Cinema in Mall of the Emirates and then everyone enjoys a coffee and chat about what they’ve just seen afterwards. What an enjoyable way to see the latest movies with friends!
Coming Up Soon
The Ladies Lunch has been arranged for 14th April at BBQ Nation. This is a restaurant specialising in Indian Fusion offering a wide variety of starters, BBQ meat, seafood and vegetables. You can choose from stir fries, curries, biriani, rice, breads and dessert for a very reasonable all inclusive price including soft drinks. The Quilters Circle meets again at 9.30am on 14th April.
The Literary Lunch Circle will meet on Monday 15th April. The chosen book is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, a great book!
The next Mosaics Circle meeting will be held on Thursday 17th April.
The Book Circle will meet again on Sunday 21st April. The book we are reading is “I Was Told To Come Alone” by Souad Mekhennet.
Upcoming Trips
10th April 2019: Dubai Design District
On 10th April the next RL trip will be to the Dubai Design District to visit 3 exceptional exhibitions held by the Paris based School of Jewelry and Arts “L’Ecole” (visiting Dubai for only a few days):

- Hidden treasures: Jewelry from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
- Pearl merchants: A rediscovered saga between the Gulf & France at the dawn of XX Century;
- Precious Art Deco Objects from the Collection of the Prince and Princess Sadruddin Aga Khan.
We will be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide throughout the visit. There is no charge and the tour takes approximately 1-1.5hrs. Meet at the Golf Club at 9am.

19th April 2019 : Gatsby on the QE2
This immersive experience brings the novel The Great Gatsby to life and will take place across all 3 decks of the majestic QE2 moored at Port Mina Rashid in Bur Dubai. Join Ranches Ladies for a magnificent Ladies Only night aboard this iconic ship and celebrate the Gatsby Era in full flappertastic attire. See below for more info.
