RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.
February 19th 2019 Talk: Safi Roshdy
Upscaling and Sustainability
Safi, our Arabic Conversation Circle leader, is the founder of Ahlanwasahlan Organisation and is fascinated by transforming useless unwanted objects into more durable and useful, and often unique, alternative items. She will teach us about the different possibilities and products available here, and around the world, from upcycled shopping bags to furniture.
Also joining us on Tuesday morning is Gaelin, who leads our Leather jewellery Circle, who is an expert at using unlikely materials in her jewellery making.
Upcoming Talks
RL has had a great programme of talks and events in the past few weeks and there are even more great mornings coming up. On 26th February Dedra Stevenson, a local author of novels and cookbooks, will address us and the following week Suz McDonald of Sourceful will present a Mandala Workshop. Then on 12th March will be our Fashion Morning. Surely something of interest for everyone?

On Tuesday we elected 3 new board members to Ranches Ladies, welcome Shaikha, Sara and Jenny.
We give a big thank you to Claudia Cabrales and Voula Caraiscos who both spoke to us at RL Social Morning on Tuesday. Claudia introduced to us the interior styling trends of 2019 and described the 2 interior styling packages she can offer her clients. She also had an amazing giveaway, won by Helen, of a one day room transformation and consultation at Helen’s home.
Voula, from Monviso water company who also represented My Quality and Convenience online grocery store (www.myqandc.com), told us about their delivery service of farm fresh produce at whole sale prices and water direct to your kitchen. MyQandC and Monviso are both offering Ranches Ladies an amazing discount set out in our discounts section below.
RL still has a few volunteer vacancies to fill and we would love to hear from you if any of the following roles appeal: Discounts Manager, Marketing Manager or as Tuesday Social Morning Room Set Up Organiser. Please talk to Connie or email ranches.ladies@gmail.com for more info.
We always need Meet and Greet ladies (you get a purple scarf!) to welcome and assist newcomers on a Tuesday morning. You only have to help out roughly once a month and it is a great way to make other friends. Julia is available on Tuesday mornings to tell you more.
Al Ihsan
This month we are collecting tins, dried goods and shoes and, as always, unused medications. If you would like to help by bagging up or on distribution night please get in touch with Jeanette on ranches.ladies@gmail.com or speak to her on Tuesday morning.

The Handicrafts Circle is on today, 17th February, on Jumeira Golf Estates. What lovely craft will you learn today?
The Quilters also meet today at 9am.
The Book Circle meets today and the Literary lunch will be tomorrow, 18th February.
Mosaics is on Wednesday 20th February in Savannah. This is a beautiful craft to enjoy!
The Gardening Circle welcomes you to join Farah Mousa, an agricultural engineer who specialises in modern landscaping and garden services, on Thursday 21st February.
The Sunday Mahjong Circle will continue in Supriya’s absence at 12.30pm upstairs in Shakespeare’s Cafe on AR1. We send all our best wishes to her.

Coming Up Soon
The Poetry Circle will take place in Savannah on Arabian Ranches 1 on 25th February at 2.30pm and the topic this month is “Scenery and Landscapes”.
The Arts and Crafts Circle, hosted by the Palette Company, will meet again on 27th February. Please look at the web page for more details.
The Newcomers Social Morning will be held on 28th February at Shakespeare’s Cafe upstairs at AR1 community centre. Everyone is welcome.
The Literary Lunch Circle will next meet on Monday, 17th March. The book is “Educated ” by Tara Westover.
Our next Ladies Lunch, see above, will be on 24th March and we hope for a lot of support from our generous ladies.

24th February 2019: Trip to Old Dubai
Allison’s next trip is to visit and explore Old Dubai. Take an abra ride across the Creek to look around the old Gold and Spice Souqs and visit the Hindu temple and enchanting surrounding areas. It always helps to explore with friends and this is an opportunity to discover parts of Dubai you may not know. This is a very popular trip!
