RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.
February 26th 2019 Talk: Dedra Stevenson
Dedra is an author and film producer based in UAE. She has published a number of books and is soon releasing a series of children’s books, a crime novel and the prequel to her The Hakima’s Tale trilogy. She is also receiving acclaim for her film Lemonade about bringing up a child with autism. We are very excited to welcome her to Ranches Ladies.
Upcoming Talks
On 5th March Suz McDonald of Sourceful Holistic Wellbeing will present a Mandala Workshop at RL Social Morning and then on 12th March will be our Fashion Morning. Mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.
Announcements
On Tuesday we elected one more new board member to Ranches Ladies, please welcome Liz to the board.
We say a big thank you to Safi Roshdy who spoke to us very passionately at RL Social Morning on Tuesday. Safi is the founder of the Ahlanwasahlan Organisation (and leader of our Arabic Conversation Circle) which aims to encourage people to consider the detrimental effects of waste products on our environment and hopes to show us some ways to reuse some of those waste products in more artistic endeavours. She told us about some remarkable upcycling projects around the world.
Gaelin, our Leather Jewellery Circle leader, brought along some examples of her magnificent jewellery made from waste and discarded products. Her rubber necklaces, made from recycled tyres, are beautiful and eco-friendly!
We are still looking for volunteers for the following roles: Discounts Manager, Marketing Manager or as Tuesday Social Morning Room Set Up Organiser. Please talk to Connie or email ranches.ladies@gmail.com for more info.
Al Ihsan
This is the last opportunity to bring tins, dried goods and shoes and, as always, unused medications for our monthly trip to Ajman. If you would like to help bagging up or on distribution night please get in touch with Jeanette on ranches.ladies@gmail.com or speak to her on Tuesday morning.

This Week
The Poetry Circle will take place in Savannah on Arabian Ranches 1 tomorrow, 25th February, at 2.30pm and the topic this month is “Scenery and Landscapes”.
The Arts and Crafts Circle, hosted by the Palette Company, will meet again on Wednesday 27th February. Please look at the web page for more details.
The Newcomers Social Morning will be held on Thursday 28th February at Shakespeare’s Cafe upstairs at AR1 community centre. Helen will be hosting this monthly meeting and everyone is welcome.
The Sunday Mahjong Circle is at 12.30pm upstairs in Shakespeare’s Cafe on AR1. Please “reply all” to Supriya’s weekly email if you want to come along and play.
The Monday Mahjong Circle meets at 10.15am at Al Arrab Restaurant and please contact Sharon on circles.ranches.ladies@gmail.com if you would like to join her circle.
Coming Up Soon
The Handicrafts Circle will meet on March 3rd and 17th so please let Bettina know if you would like to attend.
The Mosaics Circle will meet on 6th and 20th March in Savannah.
The Book Circle will meet on 17th March. The book is “Educated ” by Tara Westover.
The Quilters will also meet on the 17th from 9.30am at the Golf Club.
The Literary Lunch Circle will next meet on Monday, 18th March. the chosen book will be When You Disappeared by John Marrs.
Our next Ladies Lunch, see above, will be on 24th March and we hope for a lot of support from our generous ladies.
The Art Circle will restart on Monday 24th March.

The RL trip today is to visit and explore Old Dubai. Take an abra ride across the Creek to look around the old Gold and Spice Souqs and visit the Hindu temple and enchanting surrounding areas. This is a very popular trip!
