RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.
February 12th 2019 Talk: Claudia Cabrales, Interior Designer
How to create Striking Interiors
Claudia is a highly trained interior designer and will talk to RL about a topic very close to our hearts, creating striking interiors in our homes, combining comfort, function (we have to live with it) but most importantly style. Come and get design tips from an expert!
Also joining us on Tuesday morning is My Quality and Convenience online grocery store who will tell us about their services and give fruit and vegetable hampers to attendees. Take a look at their website http://www.myqandc.com.
Upcoming Talks
On Tuesday 19th February we will be addressed by one of our newest Circle leaders, Safi Roshdy, about Upcycling, (which is transforming unwanted and unloved items into desirable pieces). On 26th February Dedra Stevenson, a local author of novels and cookbooks, will address us and the following week Suz McDonald of Sourceful will present a Mandala Workshop. Finally on 12th March will be our fashion morning. More information about all these presentations will follow soon.

As you know we have a great team working to keep RL running but as we mentioned last week we are saying goodbye to a number of longstanding committee members, including Angela and Yvonne. This means we have a few vacancies to fill and would love to hear from you if any of the following roles appeal: Discounts Manager, Marketing Manager, Tuesday Social Morning Room Set Up Organiser or as a Meet and Greet lady (you get a purple scarf) to welcome and assist newcomers on a Tuesday morning.
You will be given lots of help and support and we work as a very close knit team. Please talk to Connie or email ranches.ladies@gmail.com for a more in depth chat.

Al Ihsan
Many thanks for your donations of medications, toiletries and cakes. Our runs to Al Ihsan are very much appreciated and now anticipated. This month we are collecting tins, dried goods and shoes and, as always, unused medications. If you would like to help by bagging up or on distribution night please get in touch with Jeanette on ranches.ladies@gmail.com or speak to her on Tuesday morning.

The Walking Fitness Circle has 2 new leaders, Alexandra and Julie, to share the load. Welcome to them and look out for contacts from them in the future. We are very grateful to Anshu who has led the circle for a long time and wish her all the best.
The Italian Culture Circle won’t meet in February but will reconvene in March. We will keep you posted.

This Week
The Ladies Lunch is today, Sunday 10th February, from 12.30pm. Enjoy the traditional Arabic mezze at Al Arrab Lebanese restaurant in Arabian Ranches 1 retail centre!
The new Arabic Conversation Circle started last week and will meet at Caribou Cafe on Tuesdays 1-2pm. Safi, the Arabic Circle leader, will also be talking to RL Social Morning about her other passion for upcycling on 19th February.
The Arts and Crafts Circle led by Ankisha of the Palette Company will be held on 13th February. Ankisha will teach the art of making dot mandalas in acrylic on canvas. Numbers are limited so please sign up immediately on Circles.ranches.ladies@gmail.com if you want to participate.
Coming Up Soon
The next Handicrafts Circle is on 17th February on Jumeira Golf Estates. An example of the gorgeous Washi eggs they decorated last week is below. Bettina will lead a new craft every two weeks so let her know if you are coming on the circles email.
The Quilters also meet next Sunday 17th at 9am.
The Book Circle is reading Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate for their meeting on 17th February.
The Literary Lunch Circle will meet on Monday, 18th February. The book is “In Order to Live – A North Korean Girl’s Journey” by Leonmi Park and will generate a lot of discussion.
Mosaics this month is on 20th February in Savannah.
Our next Ladies Lunch, see above, will be on 24th March and we hope for a lot of support from our generous ladies.
The Poetry Circle will take place in Savannah on Arabian Ranches 1 on 25th February at 2.30pm and the topic this month is “Scenery and Landscapes”.
The Newcomers Social Morning will be held on 28th February at Shakespeare’s Cafe upstairs at AR1 community centre. Everyone is welcome.

24th February 2019: Trip to Old Dubai
Allison’s next trip is to visit and explore Old Dubai. Take an abra ride across the Creek to look around the old Gold Souq and visit the Hindu temple and enchanting surrounding areas. It always helps to explore with friends and this is an opportunity to discover parts of Dubai you may not know.
