Earthquake in Syria and Turkey
Around the world, there has been shock and sadness after the worst earthquake in 100 years brought devastation to large parts of Syria and Turkey on 6th February. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this tragedy.
Please consider what you can do to help by supporting legally registered charities who are bringing aid to victims.
Special Event – 14th February
This Valentine’s Day, 10.30 am – 1 pm, Ranches Ladies will explore pizza and pasta making with visiting Italian chefs Giuseppe and Geualdo at Larte, Studio One.
The event will include an introduction to the Slow Food Movement, a pasta and pizza-making workshop followed by a Q&A with the Chefs.

Join us for tea or coffee and a chat on Tuesday mornings at Larte, Studio One Hotel in Studio City, 10.30am to 12 midday.

Wanted – Newsletter Contributions
What can you share about what you have been doing in your Circle groups? Could you write about your favourite place to visit, or anything else that would be of interest to other RL members?
We need short (200-300 word) articles for this newsletter, with photos if possible. It would be great to have an article for each week’s newsletter.
Please email any items for the newsletter to ranches.ladies@gmail.com before midday on Friday for inclusion in the next Monday’s newsletter.

The number of Circles activities have increased so it is not possible to fit each one on the newsletter every week. See the Circles Calendar on the website for more activities.
Lunching Out Circle
One of our new members, Karen Weaving, is restarting the monthly Lunching Out Circle, which was very popular prior to COVID.
The first lunch is planned for Monday 6th March from 12 noon at Avli by Tashas Greek Restaurant in DIFC.
Their 3 course business lunch is 130 AED and a deposit is required in advance to book your place (as the restaurant charge for no-shows).

Karen will be at Larte from 11.30am this Tuesday to take sign ups with deposits.
Crochet Circle
The new Crochet Circle, led by Debra, have made a great start to the year. Lesley has just started a scarf, Anel is crocheting a basket out of t-shirt yarn, Debra is making a cot blanket and Dominique has just completed a handbag.

Spanish Circle
The Intermediate Spanish Circle, led by Maria, meet in Dubai Marina with beautiful view over the marina. Thursday mornings for beginners and Friday mornings for beginners and intermediates.

Embroidery Circle
The new Embroidery Circle, led by Saba, are meeting on Thursdays 10.30am-12pm (not Wednesday as announced earlier) at Saba’s home in Al Furjan. Materials will be supplied for new ladies to get them started.

Hiking Circle
The Hiking Circle have been enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery in the UAE. Here are some photos from a recent hike to the top of Al Rabi.

Art Circle
The Art Circle, led by Rajul, have been busy learning new techniques and creating stunning paintings on various themes.

Literary Lunch Circle
This month, the Literary Lunch Circle are reading Demon Copperhead, by Barbara Kingsolver – a reimagining of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield, set in a modern-day rural American community contending with poverty and opioid addiction.
They hope to meet to discuss this book on the 20th of February.

Book Circle
The Book Circle, led by Jackie, are reading A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry – a stunning and heartbreaking tale of four very different people whose lives intersect during the state imposed emergency of 1975.

Poetry Circle
The next Poetry Circle meeting is planned for Monday 27th February, 2.30pm in Savannah, Arabian Ranches 1, on the theme of Magic and the Supernatural. New members welcome. Please bring along 3 poems to read and discuss.

Walking Fitness Circle
The Walking Circle meet on Mondays at 7.15am outside the main entrance of the Community Retail centre in Arabian Ranches to walk for around one hour. Tea/coffee in Costa afterwards at 8.15am.

Beach Walking Circle
The Beach Walking Circle, led by Monika, at Kite beach (Blue Villas parking) on Tuesdays at 6.30am, walk for around 7-8 km and stop for coffee afterwards.

Pilates Circle
Gillian from Optimal Fitness is teaching the Pilates circle on Thursday afternoons at 2pm, at Optimal Fitness in Studio City.
As there are now a lot of ladies coming, Gillian has offered to start a second class on Mondays at 10.30am, if there is enough interest.

Mariana is teaching yoga outdoors, 5pm on Tuesdays and 8.15am on Fridays.
