Good morning Ranches Ladies!

Art Dubai 2026
The Ranches Ladies have many members who have a passion for art and creative endeavours. From mosaics to decoupage, quilting, art, crochet, leather and jewellery making, there’s a Circle to explore a number of creative activities. Plus a leader who will encourage and guide the novice as well as advise the advanced person who’s looking to elevate their skills.
So the fact that Art Dubai 2026 20th Anniversary Edition which was postponed from its original April dates is happening this month is a welcome edition to May’s social calendar. It aims to be a great opportunity to immerse yourself in an environment if you love all things arty!!
The Madinat Jumeirah is going to provide the venue between 15th – 17th May and feature over 75 presentations which hope to strengthen relationships with regional institutions and art individuals. The 20th Anniversary celebrates the Global Art Forum and there will be highlights of ‘Made Forward’ (Dubai Collection), Modern Arab Art from Barjeel Art Foundation and a performance led program with Sharjah Art Foundation to explore. It is hoped from the organisers that the creative community that shapes Dubai and the region present a global perspective across modern, contemporary and digital art. And with parallel programs including talks and educational itineraries this community event aims to further develop the reach of art in everyone’s life. For the first time it’ll be a free to enter occasion with prior registration.
As Pablo Picasso eloquently said, “Art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life”.

Fly the Flag

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, urged people across the country to hoist the national flag as a powerful symbol of unity and pride. Do you know what the colours of the flag stand for?
Red represents courage and sacrifice.
Green symbolises prosperity and growth.
White stands for peace and honesty.
Black signifies strength and determination.
The Ranches Ladies “hoisted” their commemorative bags, which depict the flag of the wonderful nation we choose to call home.
Hot Date Cookery Book
Rawaan Alkhatib is a cook, writer and artist born and raised in Dubai of Palestinian and Indian descent. For the now Brooklyn based lady and her mum Isphana, a Ranches Ladies member the Hot Date!: Sweet & Savoury Recipes Celebrating the Date, From Party Food to Everyday Feasts has become a family triumph.
Named a Best Cookbook of the Year by The New Yorker, Real Simple, Serious Eats, Amazon and Publishers Weekly, this remarkable book is divided into six chapters and features 99 date-centred recipes ranging from Brooklyn to Babylon. The Mesopotamian proverb “A house with a date palm will never go hungry” repeated across the Middle East just about sums up the flavoursome recipes that are on offer between the covers.
Time perhaps to try out something new and raise a glass of date juice to celebrate their achievement.
Congratulations Rawaan and Isphana!

Circles Activities
The Circles have started to meet again and have enjoyed making new memories. We have been fortunate to experience a raft of activities throughout our various Ranches Ladies Circles. Take a look at some of the events enjoyed by our members in April and early May.
The Lunch Circle

The Lunch Circle reconnected over a sumptuous feast at Tresind in The One and Only Arabian Court. It was unanimously agreed that the food, service and conversation was utterly superb.
The Gardening Circle

With temperatures already starting to climb, it’s time to start thinking about protecting your garden plants from the summer sun. Gardening Circle member, Sonal has kindly shared a few tips.
The Wellbeing Circle

Our latest Circle was a gentle and meaningful space to pause, reflect, and reconnect. We explored how we show up in everyday interactions, and what it means to stay connected to ourselves, even when things feel challenging. There was honesty, openness, and a lot of shared understanding in the room. A reminder that growth doesn’t come from having all the answers, but from creating space to notice, reflect, and choose differently. As always, we are grateful for a Circle where women can show up as they are, without judgment.
The Book Circle

The Book Circle ladies enjoyed a very lively discussion covering two completely different books, Three Women by Lisa Taddeo and Regretting You by Colleen Hoover. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside, probably for the last time until the coming winter. Our next read is The Widow by John Grisham.

The Quilters Circle

The Quilters Circle met after two months at the Sew Society. We had a wonderful morning of socialising, making fabric wallets and showing off the projects our members worked on during our time apart.
The Poetry Circle

The Story Telling Circle

The Storytelling Circle met to share stories about how they met their husbands. Rajul read from her book of memories, Fatima poured the tea and Suraya cut a cake, made by Inna, to mark her 59th wedding anniversary. It was a lovely morning sharing memories with friends. We will continue our theme throughout May.

The Yoga Circle

The Yoga Circle met and enjoyed one of the most powerful ways to begin your day, an energizing yoga flow, fresh morning air, nature and mindful breathing. Awaken your body, clear your mind and reconnect with yourself before the world gets busy.
The Aquafit Circle

The Aquafit Circle got together for a fabulous workout in the sun. Good morning summer!
Canasta Circle

Busy morning at Canasta! The ladies are practicing for our “Pink Tournament” in a couple of weeks!
Art Circle

The Art Circle ladies are working on various themes and creating some beautiful paintings.
