Tuesday Mornings

Ranches Ladies are continuing to meet for coffee and a chat on Tuesday mornings at Larte Restaurant in Studio One Hotel, Studio City (across the roundabout from the back entrance of Arabian Ranches 1) from 10.30am- 12pm. Renewals or new memberships can also be processed.

We hope to be able to restart our social and cultural programme as soon as possible. Stay tuned for details.

Carole is hosting an International Christmas Coffee morning on Tuesday 7th December. A great chance to meet friends, old and new, and share festive food and traditions.

Many Circles are taking a break in December, or over the Christmas and New Year period, so please check with circle leaders.

International Lunch Circle

The first meeting of the International Lunch Circle was an Indian Vegetarian lunch with a variety of dishes from around India, cooked by Rajul, Supriya and Praveena, and hosted by Rajul.

In addition to all the delicious dishes, there was the opportunity to learn about food and culture from different regions of India and how to drape a sari. Carole excellently recited a poem ‘Green Mangoes’ (translated into English) by Nobel Laureate and renowned Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore.

The International Lunch Circle have offers of cooks for Turkish and Malaysian food for future meetings in January and February, but are looking for volunteers to host the lunches. Poetry Circle

The poetry circle met on Monday 29th November and had a great discussion about poems on the theme of travel.

Literary Lunch Circle

The Literary Lunch Circle will be taking a break in December. They are currently reading The Phone Box at the Edge of the World by Laura Imai Messina – this beautiful book is both a small, quiet love story and a vast expansive meditation on grieving and loss. To be discussed on Monday 17th January.

Bridge Circle

The Bridge circle, led by Manju, are meeting to play on Thursdays at 11am.

Beginners Arabic Circle

Would you like to learn Arabic?

The Beginners Arabic Circle, led by Rana Nazer, will be meet during December on Thursdays 12.45 – 1.45pm if there are enough people. Location to be confirmed.

Mahjongg Monday Circle

The Mahjongg Monday Circle are meeting to play on Mondays from 10am to 1pm, upstairs in Shakespeare and Co, Arabian Ranches 1.

Mahjongg Tuesday Circle

Yoga Circle

Mariana is teaching yoga. The days have changed to Sundays and Thursdays from 8.30am. The format is 60 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes for tea and snacks.

Quilters Circle

Ranches Ladies Quilters are a group within Ranches Ladies who love creating with quilting, sewing and embroidery.

Monthly meetings are held once a month. Meetings have been on Zoom, but they are hoping meet in-person on Sunday 12th December for an end of year celebration.

Book Circle

The Book Circle meets on the third Sunday of each month at 10am to discuss a book which everyone has read prior to the meeting.

The book for December is ‘The Beauty of Living Twice’ by Sharon Stone. This will be discussed on Sunday 19th December.

Walking Fitness Circle

The walking circle meet at 7.30am outside Arabian Ranches 1 retail centre main entrance to walk for approximately one hour at a moderate, but not too slow pace, stopping back at the retail centre for coffee afterwards.
No special equipment required – just normal trainers, maybe a cap or hat and a small bottle of water.

Gardening Circle

The gardening circle are looking forward to welcoming Amanda Ainsworth on Wednesday 8th December. Come along to find out more about succulents, which are great for growing in Dubai’s climate.

Whether you have green fingers or not, everyone is welcome.

Fadwa would like to start a crochet circle Monday or Thursday mornings. She can start in December with teaching how to crochet a Santa hat, if enough ladies are interested.

Gillian from Optimal Fitness is now planning to start the Pilates circle in January. It will be on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm, at Optimal Fitness in Studio City. At least 4 ladies are needed in order to run the class. Please email Email circles.ranches.ladies@gmail.com for more information.

Scottish Dancing Circle

Carole is hoping to restart the Scottish Dancing Circle, which was very popular before they had to take a break due to the pandemic, on Wednesday mornings. A few more ladies are needed in order to restart.
