RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in the Restaurant at Arabian Ranches Golf Club.
4 June 2019: Informal Coffee Morning
From Tuesday 4 June and through the summer Ranches Ladies will meet informally every Tuesday in the restaurant at Arabian Ranches Golf Club from 9.30am. Join the ladies who are staying in Dubai for a relaxed coffee and maybe breakfast. Catch up with what’s on in Dubai or just relax with friends. You will get a 10% discount if you use your Emaar card.
If you would like to become an RL member or renew your membership before the September rush please print off the membership form on the website http://www.arabianranchesladies.com (How To Join Us) and bring it along with your EID or passport to any of the Tuesday coffee mornings in June.
Special Announcement
As we announced last week, Connie is leaving us and is stepping down as President of RL after a very successful year in post. She is heading home and we wish her and Philip a safe and happy relocation to Scotland.
We are, nonetheless, delighted to welcome Beth Beggs as the new candidate for President of Ranches Ladies. Beth was introduced to us all at the social morning on Tuesday. Beth has lived in Dubai for many years, bringing up her family and working here, and is looking forward to the new challenge of running RL with the willing assistance of the RL committee and and the unstinting help offered by our Honorary President, Carole.
Thank you Beth for taking on the role and we look forward to a very successful Presidency. RL is in safe hands.
Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has offered to help out and volunteer some of their time to keep RL running. Gretha has offered to be RL mail box manager, Liz to manage the Circles Mailbox, Jackie is the Circles Coordinator, Anne is RL Treasurer, Alex for room set up, Shelley for discounts, Carole to temporarily man the Circles table and Karen and Jo for Meet and Greet. Ladies, thank you for your offers to help and we look forward to welcoming you to the team.
Please speak to any member of the committee about helping out as all these roles work better if they have assistants. If you can assist in any of these positions or want to help the web/FB coordinator and the Programme Manager or to explore any of the ways you can help this wonderful organisation, Ranches Ladies, please speak to any member of the committee.

We would like to wish Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim members and your families. May you have a happy and joyful Eid al Fitr.
RL Social Morning was graced on Tuesday by award winning UAE author and storyteller Julia Johnson. She kept everyone entertained by her stories of living in Dubai since 1975, the inspiration for her many successful books.
Her books are used in schools across the UAE to teach children about the real Arabian Gulf but her books are loved for their depiction of local characters. Thank you Julia for a super presentation.

The Quilters received a lovely thank you message from Elsbeth Bentley, breast care nurse at Mediclinic City Hospital, for the bags, the cushions and safety belt cushioned protectors they made for cancer sufferers.
Elsbeth said “I just wanted to say a very big thank you to you lovely ladies at the Ranches Ladies Quilter’s Circle…..You are clearly a very talented, as well as kind and thoughtful, bunch of ladies, and the little ticket with the name on is really lovely, the kindness of strangers is deeply touching. It is rare to receive a gift that is both practical and pretty when you are about to have surgery for cancer and these really hit the mark. I will be honoured to pass these on to my patients who I know will be delighted with them.” Thank you to the Quilters.
Many circles will be finishing for the summer break soon, although many will continue informally through June, July and August. Please speak to your Circle Leaders to confirm the actual dates and especially when the circle will restart in September.
This Month
The Book Circle is meeting for the final time before the summer on 16th June and they are reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
The Literary Lunch Circle will meet on Monday 17th June. The book is The Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata .
Newcomers Coffee will meet again on 27 June upstairs at Shakespeare’s Cafe in AR1 Community Centre from 9.30am
The Leather Jewellery Circle is meeting every Thursday until 27th June
The Yoga Circle will continue to meet on Mondays and Thursdays at 8.30am until the end of June and will recommence in September.
The Spanish Circles will continue until 1st July and then recommence 15 September.
Philippa leads her Pilates Circle from 2-3pm every Wednesday at OptimalFitness in Motor City and will continue over the summer, numbers permitting. She requires a minimum of 4 ladies to proceed.
The Walking Fitness Circle meet on a Wednesday morning and there maybe impromptu walks over the summer in Mall of the Emirates so look out for messages on FB, the website and on WhatsApp.
The Shanghai Circle will continue to meet to play this entertaining game over the summer if there are enough people willing to play. Look out for messages and make sure you reply if you want to play.
Similarly, the Monday Mahjong circle will continue to meet on Monday at 10am until the end of June and informally over the summer so make sure you look out for WhatsApp messages.
