RL Tuesday Social Morning
Our Social Morning will meet this week from 9.30-12 noon in Baker Finch Room at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. Please note the programme starts at 10.30 am.

Special Announcement
Very sadly, Connie announced at the RL Social Morning that she and her husband, Philip, are relocating with his job back to Edinburgh. We are all truly sorry to say goodbye to Connie. Connie has celebrated one year as RL President and what a year it has been. Under Connie’s guidance RL has had some fantastic Tuesday morning events, great attendance figures, a hugely successful Christmas Bazaar and she focussed on RL’s role in helping to support Al Ihsan with donations and last week a cheque for 35000 Dhs.
Thank you, Connie, for taking on the role of RL President and for guiding RL into the future with great kindness and care. We will miss you very much but wish you all the best in your future adventures in Scotland.
Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has offered to help out and volunteer some of their time to keep RL running. As you know we have had a number of vacancies to fill but we have also had some interest. At the moment Beth is shadowing Connie and Carole for the President’s role, Gretha has offered to be RL mail box manager, Liz to manage the Circles Mailbox, Jackie for Circles Coordinator, Anne as RL Treasurer, Alex for room set up, Shelley for discounts, Carole to temporarily man the Circles table and Karen for meet and greet. Ladies, thank you for your offers to help and we look forward to welcoming you to the team.
Please speak to any member of the committee about helping out as all these roles work better if they have assistants. If you can assist in any of these positions or want to help the web/FB coordinator and the Programme Manager or to explore any of the ways you can help this wonderful organisation, Ranches Ladies, please speak to any member of the committee.

The RL Social Morning on Tuesday hosted a team from Flormar Cosmetics who gave us a wonderful Make Up Masterclass with RL member Mandy as their lovely model. The results are superb. In addition to a wonderful morning watching a true make up artist at work, thank you Eileen, all guests received a complimentary Flormar bag and 30% discount voucher for Flormar products.
RL Social Morning also presented an Art Exhibition by the extremely talented art circle members, led by their fantastic teacher Elizabeth Bruce.
RL members had the opportunity to choose their favourite pictures from the exhibition and the unanimous winner was Nazreen with her beautiful painting of the market seller surrounded by fruit. Runners up were Eleanor with her giraffe and Sana with her collage of a lady in a headscarf. Picture below. These were just 3 of the many wonderful works on display.

Many circles will be finishing for the summer break soon, although many will continue informally through June, July and August. Please speak to your Circle Leaders to confirm the actual dates and especially when the circle will restart in September.
This Week
The Poetry Circle is meeting at 2.30pm on 27th May for the last get together until September. Please bring along your favourite poems to share.
The last Cinema Circle meet up will be 27th May until 9 September due to the summer holidays.
The Scottish Dancers will hang up their shoes for a well earned break after the class on 29 May until September.
Newcomers Coffee will be held on 30th May upstairs in Shakespeare’s Cafe from 9.30am.
After the huge success of the Art Circle‘s art exhibition Liz will host the final art session on Thursday 30th May until September.
Philippa leads her Pilates Circle from 2-3pm every Wednesday at OptimalFitness in Motor City and will continue over the summer, numbers permitting. She requires a minimum of 4 ladies to proceed.
The Walking Fitness Circle meet on a Wednesday morning and this week did a lovely 6.2 km and 7.747 steps walk over the Ranches while getting fit and enjoying the pretty landscape. This Wednesday’s walk on 29th May will be the last until the cooler months but there maybe impromptu walks over the summer in Mall of the Emirates so look out for messages on FB, the website and on WhatsApp.

The Literary Lunch Circle will meet on Monday 18th June. The book is The Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata .
