Delivery of fruit and veg and a fridge – Report by Connie
Many thanks ladies for your kind donations, we collected 40 reusable bags and enough produce for 80, a quick rummage for more bags and we were ready to deliver.
Currently, Al Ihsan supports approximately 1700 women. Those that have correct documents are registered users of the services they provide and those that do not are dependent on generosity. We focused on the food programme on our visit. Ladies are supplied with food twice a day there are some companies and hotels that donate food supplies and it works on a first come first service principle. Ladies and children begin to queue very early so as to get the best of what is on offer. We had 80 bags to give but there were touching 500 in the queue.
We did manage to speak to a few ladies about what we can bring that would be of benefit and we now have a list of ideas to see us through the next year! Starting with a toiletries run in January. Please save up those hotel smellies. From what we could gather the ladies were made up of a vast collection of expats however to discuss here how they arrived at Al Ihsan doors would not be appropriate. But I’m more than happy to answer any private questions or host a coffee morning on the subject.
The Fridge was very kindly donated and transported by Tish Foster. The centre is very open to taking donations of any kind but collection can be a bit of a headache. If you would like to donate any big items it is best to also think of transport costs as well.
