The holy month of Ramadan has commenced. There has been a relaxation of the strict restrictions. Please follow all the social distancing guidelines issued by the government and have a safe and happy month

RL Circles News

Fadwa has made a lovely suggestion to say thank you to the workers, drivers and labourers who continue to work during the lockdown. She has made gift boxes full of treats with messages of gratitude. You can easily replicate this idea and leave it in an accessible place

Following my observation last week (that we would love to hear from past RL members who have left UAE and are living in other parts of the world) Angela Souter, our previous Circles Coordinator, got in touch.

Angela is living on the Isle of Man and has kept up her skills learned from Gaelin from the Leather Circle. I’m sure her husband is very grateful for these leather golf club covers!

Some of our RL members are stuck in far flung places unable to get back to the UAE. Shelley went home for a family emergency and is still in the Black Isle in Scotland with her husband. She is fortunate to be in one of the most beautiful parts of the World. She has taken photos of Fairy Glen.

Literary Lunch

Literary Lunch Club for April met on the 20th April over Zoom with 6 people and we had a good chat about the book and other things of course. We discussed The Other Half of Augusta Hope by Joanna Glen and have chosen our book for May which is The Lido by Libby Page

Quilting

My goodness, Anshu has chosen a challenging quilt here. This is a Lone Star quilt which is made up of lots of individually cut diamond shapes. She has taken advice from Donna & Matt of Jordan Fabrics on their YouTube channel which shows you simple ways to make this patchwork a little easier

Art

Nazreen has discovered some excellent art tutorials on YouTube and they have transformed her approach to watercolour landscapes. You will have seen her Italian piazza on FaceBook but here is her first attempt at a Parisian street called Winter Fun. She has been following Gary Tucker on https://garytuckerartist.com

Mosaics

Sana has been working away at home and produced these delightful sunflower coasters. I understand that the mosaic circle are currently collaborating on a project and will send us something soon

Keeping Fit

Join Phillipa (and her dogs) for therapy Pilates. Phillipa is a physio at OptimalTHERAPY offering small, specific pilates classes via ZOOM where she can give you individual attention and feedback. Ranches Ladies get a discount on the Wednesday afternoon class.

Bridge

Members of the Bridge Circle have worked out how to play each other online so Monica, Subh, Sara and Catriona meet every other day to play on BridgeBase Online. Subh is currently in Australia which makes it even more remarkable

You may not believe it but we have two published authors amongst our Ranches Ladies. RL member Heather Watts has also been published! Her book is now available on Amazon UK and also on Kindle
