Ranches Ladies Newsletter

Good morning Ranches Ladies!

It’s the Month to Think Pink

The history of the now widely recognisable, international pink month heralds breast cancer awareness month. Happening every October, this once week long awareness campaign led by Betty Ford, in 1985 came about as she was a breast cancer survivor.

Subsequently, it was in 1992 that the pink ribbon became the symbol to represent breast cancer awareness through the involvement of an iconic American woman in the cosmetic industry, Estee Lauder.

Pink was chosen as a symbol of strength and hope and in many ways represented femininity.

And now after three decades of research and medical development has become much more understood, treatable and with cures available for many.

Across the UAE Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) have already launched their Pink October campaign. The initiative offers free early breast cancer tests, including ultrasound screenings, mammograms and clinical engagement available at over 86 sites across the country.

In partnership with the Pink Caravan, eight fixed clinics which operate daily throughout October plus the Mobile Medical Clinics and Mini Mobile Clinics are providing coverage in major cities in the UAE for women to avail of this service and to raise awareness of this disease.

The message is to promote early detection throughout the community and become knowledgeable about this topic.

It has to be said that Ranches Ladies have also engaged with experts and organisations to raise awareness around this important matter for their members.

The rest of the month will provide opportunities for all of us to learn more and check that all’s well.

Written by Beverly Sanders.

Ladies are advised to sign up for the event on 18th and 25th October if wishing to participate in the event.

Ranches Ladies Community Activities

Our Ranches Ladies community is a hive of activity, and this month has been no different. Take a look at some of our wonderful circles, outings and special events that have been enjoyed by our members.

Larte Studio One Hotel Tastemakers Lunch – September 2025

After the coffee morning on Tuesday 30th September 2025, Studio One Hotel Manager, Natalia Gecziova, invited a few of the Ranches Ladies to a Tastemakers Lunch to sample a selection of dishes from Larte’s wonderful new Italian Head Chef, Gabriele Azzariti’s, business lunch menu. For the purpose of our visit, the menu was served “family style” which allowed the whole table to enjoy a taste of an array of fabulous food.
We were treated to antipasti dishes of Carpaccio di Bresaola with Parmesan, rocket and a lemon dressing, Crudo di Tonno with a zingy lemon gel, orange zest and Maldon sea salt accompaniment and a Caprese salad of bocconcini, cherry tomatoes and basil pesto.

For our Secondi, or main course, Spaghetti Aglio, Olio e Pepperoncino, a light yet flavourful spaghetti dish with olive oil, garlic and chilli, (Natalia was kind enough to explain that this is a favourite staple dish in Italian households and known as “midnight pasta” due to it being eaten late into the night), a Mushroom Risotto with porcini, chestnut and chanterelle mushrooms, Filetto di Branzino, a delicious pan fried sea bass with lemon butter sauce and sautéed vegetables followed by Pollo alle Erbe, a chicken breast with herb roasted potatoes.

For dessert there was the Italian classic Vanilla Panacotta (which delivered the perfect wobble – in my humble opinion), with a tangy Berry Coulis and finally a creamy Lotus Cheesecake with caramel and lotus biscuit crumbs…..yum!

The new menu will be launched later this month and if the dishes served to the Ranches Ladies are anything to go by, it should be a real treat for the palate.

A huge thank you to the team at Studio One Hotel and Larte; Hotel Manager Natalia Gecziova, Head Chef Gabriele Azzariti, Outlet Manager Joseph Daccache and the rest of the kitchen and restaurant team. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Hello Chef August 2025

Hello Chef says Marhaba

August has been hot outside and in the kitchen with two trips to the Hello Chef kitchen near Jebel Ali.

The beginning of the month on August 1st 2025, we had a small group of Ranches Ladies trying out three of the new main course express range of ready to cook dishes.

Towards the end of August on 27th, just after the kids went back to school, we had another group of eight ladies pair up and make five mains, two sides and two desserts.

In the test kitchen we had the guidance of resident recipe queen, Roya, Hello Chef’s senior recipe developer who was leading the collaboration with Ranches Ladies. The first group made a trio of chicken dishes designed to be ready in 20 minutes (Cashew Chicken, Piri Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai), plus a Greek side salad and no bake cheesecake pots.

The second group, under the watchful eye of Merrill, also a senior recipe developer, made a veritable feast of Steak Fajita Salad, Teriyaki Beef Udon Noodles, Chicken Tikka Rice Bowl, Thai Red Curry Noodles, Mushroom Stroganoff, Rice, Pasta Salad, Chocolate Mousse Pots and a Chocolate Ganache Cake. The desserts did take a bit longer but were still a quick and easy 30-60 min plus chilling time (one can’t rush perfection).

Great fun and not too big of a mess was made, along with a nice lunch shared with the resident chefs, Raymond the kitchen assistant and Sana the marketing coordinator who hosted us at the campus and gave us a tour of the facilities.

The recipes were designed for two people, but were very generous, leftovers were plentiful. We certainly could not finish it all.

In another room, the Hello Chef team was already hard at work creating and testing new recipes in preparation for the 2025 Christmas Season, which will include a Beef Wellington and Duck with Cranberries.

There’s a special voucher code (HelloLadies), for Ranches Ladies offering 50% off the first box along with 20% off on the following three boxes.

These were great mornings out for Ranches Ladies Members. I highly recommend this event and suggest ordering the Cashew Chicken.

Ranches Ladies Summer Trip to Arte Museum, Dubai Mall

On Monday 14th July 2025, a group of 14 Ranches Ladies led by Nicki Attiwell had a great afternoon out visiting the Arte Museum in Dubai Mall, followed by lunch at the Time Out Market near the Dubai Fountains.

The museum was fantastic, with lots of immersive and interactive exhibits. Everyone enjoyed it, especially utilising their artistic skills to launch their chosen sea creatures.

Lunch was at the Time Out Market, where every type of food was available. We all managed to choose several types of food, ranging from toasted sandwiches to sushi. It was great to meet some Ranches Ladies whom some of us had not met before. Thanks to all for coming.
