Good morning Ranches Ladies!

Vive la France!

Amongst the range of three hundred Ranches Ladies members there are plenty of French nationals and a significant number of French speaking ladies. So it’ll come as no surprise that today the 14th July is a historic point in the French calendar.

Bastille Day will be celebrated across the globe but for Paris and other parts of the nation this is the day to mark the 1789 uprising that was a turning point in the French Revolution.

Food, fireworks, parades, concerts and some amazing speciality events in some of the countries top venues are happening.

And in Dubai, there’s going to be enough places providing celebratory meals, music and chances to feel like you can join in, if you want to.

The international non profit organisation Alliance Francais in Dubai is a starting point for any budding Francophiles as they promote language and culture through films, concerts, theatre, art, exhibitions, children’s activities and have a library too.

With French being one of the six official languages used for diplomacy and international relations within the United Nations there’s still a healthy influence of this language around the world.

And just looking at fashion, cuisine, perfumes and sports, it’s clear to see cultural norms, intellectual thoughts and artistic movements have spread as part of French global heritage. It’s a day to remember the motto that is still a symbol of France.

Tuesday Coffee Morning

As summer came in full force so did the summer holidays. Our lovely ladies are busy making new memories either locally or abroad. Nevertheless, Ranches Ladies Tuesday coffee mornings takes place at Larte, Studio One Hotel, from 10:30am to 12pm as usual. Ladies of all ages, wherever you live, are welcome to join us.

Global Experiences from our Lovely Ladies!

Robert Louis Stevenson who wrote Kidnapped and Treasure Island was born and brought up in Edinburgh. Yesterday I walked through this old railway tunnel near Swanston where he lived as a child. It is painted with murals showing scenes from his poem ‘From a Railway Carriage printed in blue on the poster. Several artists and schools took part in painting the tunnel. The last scene shows people living in the area. Most Scottish school children learned the poem by heart.
