Good morning Ranches Ladies!
International Falafel Day

Would you believe that there is indeed an International Day dedicated to the Falafel and it takes place on 12th June.
So living in Dubai, there’ll be plenty of cafés, restaurants and food outlets selling them for you to tuck into if you fancy some of these tasty bites
A deep fried ball made in ground chickpeas, it can be flat or a doughnut shaped patty.
As with most recipes variations abound, which you might be familiar with, including fava beans, onions and spices such as cumin or coriander as part of the falafel’s ingredients.
Being meat and dairy free they’re also enjoyed by vegetarians and vegans. Meaning that a falafel is something that most people can enjoy as a snack or as part of a meal.
It’s also believed that the falafel originated in Egypt but spread across the Middle East as travellers brought their culinary knowledge to new communities.
Interestingly though, the falafel is regarded not just as a food but as a cultural symbol which represents heritage and identity.
Of course residents and visitors will probably have their favourite falafel eateries lined up and whether this particular food originated in the 10th century in Egypt or 6th century India or possibly Pharaonic Egypt that’ll all be secondary to the glorious taste they have when it comes to eating them!
Enjoy your falafel and let us know who makes the best !

Celebrating life
By Rajul Chander
I remember my dad as loving and kind
A person of great values you rarely find
He was dashing, smashing and a promising lad
His father passed away early and that was sad
He lost his father when he was still in college
He took on his role with wisdom and knowledge
He took over the business being the oldest son
For him life was a challenge, he was the chosen one
To look after his mom and siblings who were helpless and lost
He wanted to give them a good life at any cost
Lots of responsibilities at an early age he carried
Educated his siblings and got them married
He had style and a heart of gold
He was hardworking, strong and bold
He ran the family business and spread it far and wide
For everyone around him, he became a mentor and guide
He earned a lot of money and lived like a king
To look back on life was not his thing
Times were good and times were bad
He took it in a stride and was never sad
Gave everyone in the family what was due
Selfless and giving, his needs were few
As time passed and he turned old
We saw a different chapter of life unfold
I celebrate his life even when he is gone
Remembering him with love, my life moves on
There is no grief and all is good
I live through him for what he stood
Though life has its ways and loved ones part
My dad will always stay close in my heart
