Good morning Ranches Ladies!
For All Lovers of Design

Throughout history the influence of designers on the home environment has been significant. The way in which colours, materials and ideas transform our lives is very much in evidence. As too, are cultural blends which also impact design.
From the American Frank Lloyd Wright to Scottish Charles Rennie Mackintosh, design has become an integral part of the human experience and shows the development of new ideas which can become design classics.
In more recent years, British Jasper Conran and Indian Gauri Khan are some more designers who have brought their influence to the party.
While newer designers expressing their own unique talents such as, Aljoud Lootah an Emirati or Bouchra Boudou based in Marrakech. The world has never been so accessible and easy to find a design that suits your style and pocket.
So for all lovers of design INDEX, the Interior Design & Furniture Exhibition in Dubai will be a glorious opportunity for Ranches Ladies to bask in the latest design offerings.
The venue at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Hall 2-8 enables trade professionals and those with specific credentials to attend.
The exhibition however, is open to members of the public by registering for the event online.
Further details are available on https://www.indexexhibition.com and will outline all the goodies on offer.
In recent months Ranches Ladies have had some opportunities to dip into the design world with Christine Markey and Aqsa Owais providing excellent presentations on various aspects of design.
And of course, there are plenty of Ranches Ladies who participate in Circles which have a strong design element.
If this kind of world class happening with exhibitors from Hong Kong to Malaysia appeals there’s more than likely something to see, or something to buy or an idea to bring home.
For me an Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman in classic cherry and black given half a chance would be my design treasure. A delightful, beautiful addition to any house to enjoy every day.

Take Your Idea to the Next Level

Recently, the Ranches Ladies community had the pleasure of attending an inspiring talk by Tricia Hamilton, on how to take your idea to the next level. Tricia’s message was especially tailored for us ladies, encouraging us to harness our creative energy and transform personal ideas into tangible, entrepreneurial realities.
Cultivating Creative Energy
Tricia began by reminding us that creativity isn’t just for artists or inventors—it’s for everyone. She encouraged us to look at the world around us and notice the everyday problems that spark our curiosity. According to Tricia, the seeds of innovation often come from real-world needs, and individuals, with their wealth of life experience, are uniquely positioned to spot these opportunities.
From Idea to Entrepreneurial Reality
Guiding us step-by-step, Tricia outlined how to nurture an idea from its earliest stages. She described the creative process as a journey:
• Preparation: Research, observe, and think deeply about the problem.
• Incubation: Let the idea settle and evolve in your mind.
• Illumination: Experience that “aha” moment when everything comes together.
Tricia emphasized that taking time in each stage allows your ideas to mature and become truly innovative.
Understanding Patents and Intellectual Property
Tricia demystified the concept of patents, explaining that a patent protects an original idea—something never seen before anywhere in the world. She shared her own journey of patenting her “O hat,” a unique, washable hat designed originally for chemotherapy patients with merino wool. Her story began with a simple need: finding a hat that could be washed without losing its shape or comfort. Through trial and error—starting with 12 seams and finally perfecting it with just one—Tricia developed a solution and secured her patent in 2014.
She also clarified the broader landscape of intellectual property, from music and design rights to trademarks and the emerging area of IP core. Tricia stressed the importance of consulting professionals to navigate these legal waters and protect your creative work.
Leaving a Legacy
Tricia’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion. She reminded us that protecting our ideas isn’t just about business—it’s about leaving a legacy and sharing our creativity with the world. Her story left many of us inspired to dust off our own ideas and consider what’s possible.
If you’ve ever had a spark of inspiration, now is the time to nurture it. Who knows? Your next idea could be the one that changes lives—starting with your own.

Rooted in Balance – A Taste of Botan Aura

On Thursday 22nd May 2025, the Ranches Ladies gathered for a unique sensory experience that delighted both palate and spirit. Hosted by Amanda Seguin, Naturopathic Consultant in Nutrition the event offered an exclusive tasting of BotanAura – a line of herbal teas and functional bites crafted with healing intention.
The attendees explored five signature blends, each thoughtfully designed to support mind, body, and hormonal harmony. From the radiant Saffron Aura Elixir, known for its mood-lifting and beauty-enhancing properties, to the grounding Moonblood Tonic latte for hormonal balance, every sip was a journey into nature’s quiet intelligence.
Alongside the teas, a selection of healing bites offered a glimpse into how food can be both indulgent and therapeutic. Created with the same philosophy, these raw and plant based bites are rich in adaptogens and superfoods – designed to support mood, energy, hormonal balance, and inner calm.
Whole botanicals, medicinal herbs, and traditional spices were blended in harmony to nourish the body gently and naturally, just as nature intended. Everyone was encouraged to reflect on each blend’s aroma, taste, and how it made them feel, transforming tea into a moment of mindful self-care.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and gave their energy to this morning together.
