Good morning Ranches Ladies!
The Lyrid Meteor Shower

For anyone who’s been stargazing recently you’ll be pleased to know there is more activity occurring in the night sky.
This time it’s all about meteors and to be specific the Lyrid meteor shower.
Another annual celestial display which appears every April when our planet Earth passes through the debris that has been left by the comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher, no relation to the famous UK politician Margaret!
The reason why we see the meteors in all their glory is because as the Earth orbits the Sun it collides with the debris from the comet and the specks burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere.
What can be said about the Lyrid meteor shower is it is believed to be the oldest recorded one with documentation dating back to 687 BC.
This visible activity can be viewed in the Northern hemisphere and is expected between 19th-25th April, so it’s the perfect time to find a comfy chair and a dark sky spot anytime between 4-5 am. Remember to face east and then make an approximate 30 degree turn towards the north- east and fingers crossed you’ll be able to see a light show like no other.
Alternatively you can just use a star location app on your phone and find the constellation of Lyra.
This spectacular meteor shower is named after this lyre shaped constellation which connects back through history to the times when musicians used this harp like instrument.
A case of the heavens and Earth meeting in a light display that peaks April 21st-22nd.
Enjoy the show!

International Lunch Circle

On Wednesday, ten lovely ladies joined our Lebanese Lunch at Randa’s home, hosted by Randa Khazem and Josephine El Zayat and the ladies from the International Lunch Circle.
Lebanese cuisine is more than food—it’s a reflection of culture, tradition, and heartfelt hospitality. Meals are centered around sharing, community, and fresh, seasonal ingredients that bring people together. The flavors are balanced, the dishes are wholesome, and the experience is always warm and welcoming.
Our lunch showcased this beautifully, offering a rich spread that captured the essence of Lebanese dining. Meals were served family-style, encouraging conversation and a true sense of togetherness.
Mezze & Salads
• Tabbouleh
• Fattouch
• Zaatar Salad
• Moutabal (eggplant dip)
• Hummus
• Warak Enab (stuffed grape leaves)
• Falafel
• Laban with cucumber
Main Dishes
• Kibbeh bil siniyyeh
• Rice with chicken
• Shawarma chicken
• Shawarma meat
Desserts
• Muhalabiyya
• Kunafa
Drinks
• Jallab
• Rose syrup
• Fresh orange juice
A key feature of Lebanese meals is the concept of mezze – an array of small dishes served together. This style invites sharing, variety, and interaction, turning every meal into a social celebration. It also reflects the depth and diversity of Lebanese flavors.
Lebanese cuisine changes with the seasons. In summer, dishes like tabbouleh and fattouch shine with crisp vegetables and fresh herbs. In cooler months, heartier fare like kibbeh and stuffed grape leaves take center stage. Regional differences also add variety, with coastal areas leaning toward seafood and inland regions favoring meats and rustic vegetables.
Health is naturally built into Lebanese cooking. Olive oil, fresh herbs, garlic, and lemon not only boost flavor but offer nutritional benefits, making this one of the world’s healthier cuisines.
It was a joy to have the Ranches Ladies come together and explore Lebanese flavors and traditions. As a parting gift, each guest received a handmade candle by Randa in the colors of the Lebanese flag a fragrant reminder of a lovely afternoon.
Thank you all for sharing in this special day.
