Good morning Ranches Ladies!

Hearts in Harmony: Ranches Ladies in Ramadan Spirit

Sixteen days of Ramadan have gracefully passed, filling hearts with peace, patience, and spiritual reflection. The journey of self-discipline and compassion continues. As we embrace the remaining days, may our prayers, fasting, and good deeds multiply, bringing blessings, forgiveness, and inner light to our souls.

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT: How to stay active without draining your energy

When Ramadan comes around, many of us instinctively hit the pause button on exercise: after all, how can you possibly work out when you’re running on an empty stomach? But what if staying active during fasting didn’t have to leave you feeling drained? In fact, the right kind of movement, at the right time, can boost your energy, improve your mood, and help your body feel stronger and more vibrant throughout the holy month.

The truth is, our bodies are designed to move, even when we’re fasting. It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing better.

First, let’s talk timing. One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to push through a high-intensity workout in the middle of the day, leaving themselves dehydrated, dizzy, and exhausted. Ramadan is a different rhythm, and your workouts should match that flow. The best time to move? Just before Iftar. A light walk, gentle strength exercises, or even yoga in the hour before breaking your fast can wake up your metabolism, improve blood flow, and make that first sip of water feel even more rewarding.

Another great option? After Iftar:  once you’ve given your body a chance to refuel. A short, energising workout an hour or two after your meal helps your body burn food more efficiently, supports muscle maintenance, and boosts your mood before you wind down for the night. Think stretching, light cardio, or bodyweight exercises, it’s enough to get your heart rate up without exhausting yourself before Suhoor.

So, what kind of exercise works best during fasting? This isn’t the time for marathon runs or heavy weightlifting (unless you’re a seasoned pro who knows how to handle it). Low-impact, energy-boosting movements are your Ramadan secret weapon. Pilates, yoga, walking, and light resistance training can keep your muscles engaged, your joints mobile, and your energy levels steady  without running you into the ground.

And let’s not forget, movement isn’t just about burning calories or staying in shape. It’s about staying connected to your body. A gentle morning stretch can remind you to start the day with intention. An evening walk under the stars can give you space to reflect. Movement, at its core, is a celebration of what your body can do, even in a fasted state.

This Ramadan, let go of the “all or nothing” mindset. You don’t need to choose between over-exerting yourself and doing nothing at all. The magic is in the middle ground: small, intentional movements that nourish your body, not deplete it.

So, move it or lose the chance to feel stronger, lighter, and more vibrant this Ramadan. Your body will thank you for staying active.

Celebrating the Green!

Today’s the day many people will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day.
He’s appeared in film and literature and has notable places associated with him particularly in Ireland but also in Scotland, England and would you believe Puerto Rico.
A global phenomenon he was a man who according to his own autobiography was taken by pirates to Ireland from his home in Britain and then sold as a slave.
After six years of working as an animal herder, he escaped and went back to his family.
He became a cleric and then returned to Ireland to spread Christianity.
However, there are a number of other academic theories which provide an alternative to this well known version.
Nevertheless, famous landmarks around the world light up their architectural icons in green and even the Chicago River turns green to celebrate the occasion too.
There are numerous parades, food and musical events all over the world and even in Dubai.
It means that anyone with an Irish connection or just wanting to join in the celebration and the culture will usually have a day to remember.

“May the luck of the Irish be with you today”
(An Irish proverb) !

A seven day trip to an eco farm was a cherished dream come true for our Ranches member “KumKum Ramchandani”. Organized by SHARAN and conducted at The Hidden Oasis, Pune, India, Team was taught that food, mind and body can be synchronized with mindfulness, yoga, breathing and a plant based vegan diet. Every day there were numerous recipes that were organic, animal free, sugar free and oil free. Some of the delicious fruits and vegetables were sourced from the eco friendly farm of The Hidden Oasis. Every day the Team walked the lush paths of the farm and surrounding lakes and communed with the geese, ducks and rabbits. Kumkum enjoyed this trip organized by facilitators, Captain Joseph Pinto, Nipa and Shashi, who were extremely caring and shared their valuable knowledge about maintaining a sustainable and healthy life. Kumkum came back with feeling of spiritually and physically uplifted and with a new resolve to make some easy changes in her life!
