Mastering Hydration During Fasting
How to stay energised all day

Fasting can be challenging, especially when it comes to staying hydrated. It’s not just about drinking water: there are key strategies that can help your body absorb and retain hydration effectively.
1. IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT WATER – ADD ELECTROLYTES
Plain water is great, but without electrolytes, your body will flush it out too quickly, leaving you feeling dehydrated again.
Add a pinch of Himalayan salt or coconut water to your drinks. These natural electrolytes help your body retain water.
Bonus Tip: Include potassium-rich foods at Suhoor, like bananas, avocados, and dates, to boost water retention throughout the day.
2. FIBRE: YOUR SECRET HYDRATION WEAPON
Fibre isn’t just great for digestion: it also plays a crucial role in hydration. It holds onto water and slowly releases it throughout the day.
Surprising fact: Fibre-rich foods can keep you hydrated longer than water alone!
What to eat: Think oats, chia seeds, cucumbers, and berries. Try a spoonful of chia seeds in water before Suhoor to extend your hydration for hours.
3. TIMING IS EVERYTHING
Most people focus on how much they drink, but the timing of hydration is even more important.
Common mistake: Drinking a lot of water right before you start fasting or after Iftar is ineffective: your body will just flush it out.
Smart strategy: Start hydrating early in the evening. Sip small amounts of water every 30 minutes after Iftar for better absorption. Hydrating foods like soups and fruits also help your body store water.
4. IS IT THIRST OR SOMETHING ELSE?
Sometimes, we mistake other bodily signals for thirst. Hunger, fatigue, or mineral deficiencies can all mimic thirst.
How to tell the difference:
• If you’re tired but don’t have a dry mouth, your body may need sleep, not water.
• Craving salty or sweet foods? It might be electrolytes your body needs.
• If you wake up feeling dry despite drinking water, your body might not be absorbing it well, try adding potassium and fibre-rich foods to your diet.
By applying these hydration tips, you can keep your energy up and stay hydrated during fasting. It’s not about chugging water, it’s about giving your body the right tools and timing to stay refreshed and energised all day long.

Trip to Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi

The Trip Circle visited The Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 26th February. Nicki Attiwell has shared her experience of the trip.
Abrahamic Family House Abu Dhabi
What a wonderful day. We set off to Abu Dhabi with 26 Ranches Ladies and had a day that will be forever imprinted in our minds. Abrahamic House did not disappoint with the 3 seperate houses of worship, all very minimalistic but stunning in appearance.
The Mosque had 7 arches reflecting the importance of the number 7 in Islam. The Catholic Church provided a spectacular display. Externally there were vertical pillars and internally wooden stakes which were suspended from the ceiling depicting Incarnation and resurrection. The elegant, timeless design of the Synagogue draws on the symbol of the sukkah, a traditional shelter for prayer.
Our guide Saul during our time at Abrahamic House oozed knowledge which he was eager to pass on to us. Lunch was taken at Saadiyat Beach with a torquoise sea as our back drop. What more could we ask.
It was a breathtaking experience.

Divine in me, Divine in you
A poem by Rajul Chander from the Poetry Circle

I see divine in me, divine in you
How life will unfold I have no clue
If my life is this simple equation
There is no scope for altercation
I see you and me as one
Whether it’s a stranger or my son
Love keeps flowing in my heart
You and me are not apart
My state of mind is calm and peace
Thoughts are less and I feel at ease
City noise or a silent beach
This is the state I want to reach
Live each day as it comes
Feel love in my heart all at once
Accept people for what they are
Feel love for them near or far
Feel inner joy and feel true
See divine in me, divine in you
