Inspiring women are many
Winning Nobel Prize and Grammy
But inspiring women around me I see
Over a simple cup of coffee or tea
Ranches Ladies are women of steel
They live their life with zest and zeal
They come from different cultures, but think alike
They walk, they swim, and they go on a hike
They do yoga, pilates and they dance
They’re out to have fun at every chance
Languages, poetry, cinema and more
Activities are in plenty, that’s for sure
Painting, quilting or playing a game
Whatever they do, the goal is the same
Whether it is Canasta, Shanghai or Mahjongg
Spend time constructively, nothing is wrong
Jewellery making in glitter and gold
Eager to meet in heat or cold
Mosaic, crochet, or a fancy meal
Being together for them is one big deal
They do things to follow their passion
Always looking trendy, wearing what’s in fashion
They are energetic, compassionate and kind
The best of company you will find
With open hearts they will reach out
Making friends is what it’s all about
Mutual respect and willingness to share
Enriching their lives with love and care
When they part, they’re eager to meet soon
For all of them Ranches Ladies is a boon

Sikka Art & Design Festival
The 12th edition of Sikka Art and Design Festival is taking place from 23 February to 3 March 2024 in the Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood. This Festival showcases a range of outdoor installations, art exhibitions, live performances, film screenings, poetry evenings, workshops, homegrown F&B concepts and more.

Quilters Circle
The Quilters Circle met on the 19th of February. A team from the Brother Sewing Machine Company made a presentation on their cloud-based design platform Artspira. It was an interesting session with questions being answered on various Brother products too. This was followed by our usual ‘Show and Tell’ and ‘Block of the Month’ presented by our lovely group of ladies.

Art Circle
The Art Circle had a lovely class last Thursday, with the ladies making some beautiful paintings.
The Art Circle, led by Rajul, meet on Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon. New members are welcome.

Literary Lunch Circle
The Literary Lunch Circle met over lunch at St Tropez Bistro in Mall of the Emirates last Monday to discuss ‘The Vanishing of Margaret Small,’ by Neil Alexander.
The book for March is ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee. They plan to meet on Monday 18th March at 12.30pm to discuss this book. New members are welcome.

Aquafit Circle
Dayle is teaching Aquafit on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8.30am in Savannah, Arabian Ranches 1.

The new Decoupage Circle, led by Randa Khazem, is on Thursday mornings, 10am – 1pm in Randa’s home in Arabian Ranches.

Poetry Circle
The poetry circle meet once a month to share and discuss poems on a theme. Last Wednesday, they shared some lovely poems on the topic of ‘Inspiring Women’. The theme for the next meeting, planned for Monday 25th March, is Colours.

Book Circle
Last Friday, the Book Circle had a very lively discussion of Paul Lynch’s Booker prize-winning novel, Prophet Song. The book for March is ‘All the Broken Places’ by John Boyne.

French Circle
The French Circle, led by Bea Sion meet on Monday mornings, 10am to 12pm. If you know some basic French but would like to improve and learn more, join the French Circle. New members welcome.

Spanish Circle
The Spanish Circle is on Thursdays at 10.30am in Larte, Studio One Hotel, Studio City. Maria will be teaching for beginners or those who already know a little Spanish.

The Pilates Circle meet on Thursday afternoons 2-3pm, at Optimal Fitness in Studio City. Gillian from Optimal Fitness is teaching the class. New ladies welcome.

The Cinema Circle, led by Marina, meet on Mondays at Mall of the Emirates (provided there’s something good to see!) and often meet for coffee or lunch before or after the film. They have a Whatsapp and email group to decide on the film.

Walking Fitness Circle
The Walking Circle are making the most of the cool weather with early morning walks on Mondays.
Meet on Monday mornings at 7am outside the main entrance of Arabian Ranches 1 community shopping centre.
We will walk for approximately 1 hour 20 mins depending on route and distance. Stay for tea/coffee afterwards back at the community centre if you have time. New ladies are welcome to join.
