Good Morning Ranches Ladies. Have a great week.

Mental Health Workshop – Tuesday 23rd January

write-up by Jennifer Mitchel

Last Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, there was a special coffee morning with a Mental Health Workshop, “Discover Calm within Chaos”, presented by Sara Haboubi, a NLP Master Coach & Trainer. There was a great attendance with audience participation, and a good insight into awareness of Mental Health.

According to the World Health Organisation there has been a 25% increase in anxiety and depression since 2020. Leaving these issues unaddressed can lead to facing much more serious problems.

What is Mental Health?: “Our emotional physiological and social well being.” It effects how we think feel and act. Anyone is at some risk of developing a Mental health disorder regardless of age, sex, income or ethnicity. Encouraging good Mental health is a key part of feeling happy with life, being connected to other people and having a sense of meaning.

Sara helped us to understand how we can control the focus of our thoughts, and change our perception of external events that may cause us anxiety and stress. We learnt how to find calm in the chaos by grounding ourselves, practicing balanced breathing, releasing tension and negative energy, filling up with positive energy, and setting healthy boundaries.

Self-care is so important. Your Mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Thank you to Sara Haboubi for an insightful and practical talk.

I Feel Music in Everything

by Rajul Chander

When my mind is active, there is a lot of noise

Every small sound seems loud, and I have no choice

But as things around me begin to harmonise

I can see the chords of my life synchronise

There is calm and peace, and I start to sing

I feel music in everything

The giggling of the kids, the voice of my loved one

The laughter with my friends, the noise now is none

The whistling of the wind, the swinging of the tree

The chirping of the birds, my soul feels free

There is calm and peace, and I start to sing

I feel music in everything

I realise the music is not outside

It’s a state of mind and it flows from inside

So now I keep my mind at ease

And all my troubles begin to cease

There is calm and peace, and I start to sing

I feel music in everything

Thank you to Rajul for sharing this poem she wrote for the January Poetry Circle on the topic of music.
