Festive Table Centrepiece Workshop
Ranches Ladies members got into the festive spirit on Tuesday making their very own individual festive table centre pieces under the watchful eye and guidance from florists Sam and Caroline of Gorgeous Flowers. There was excitment in the air as ladies were seated and patiently waiting to get started with the beautiful smell of fresh green foliage of numerous varieties laid out in advance, ready for us to start assembling the water soaked oasis base.
As we progressed, many ladies placed their candles in the centre of the oasis, some made without. As we were so focused ensuring our green foliage was correctly in place at an angle to ensure the base would not be visible along we did not always notice slowly but surely as fresh holly with red berries suddenly appeared on the tables, along with fresh hypericum berries ( also foliage with a larger red berry), pinecones some natural others already sprayed gold and silver, dried lotus heads, whole dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices. Festive bows and many baubles of different colours and textures were also in great demand.
Once our festive masterpieces were created from elegant to flamboyant centerpieces we enjoyed coffee/tea and sweet bites and lucky ladies went home with festive party treats of Festive shaped chocolates from Xocolalt and tasty mince pies from Spinneys.
Thank you to all our supporters to make this Ranches Ladies festive workshop event such a success for our members, Larte, Studio One Hotel, Gorgeous Flowers, Spinneys, and Xocolatl.
Our First Christmas

I spent the initial years of my life in India. We celebrated Diwali each year, but didn’t see much of Christmas celebrations around us. My daughter was born in Dubai and had a fair amount of exposure to Christmas. This poem is about my daughter wanting to celebrate Christmas. I shared it at the last Poetry Circle meeting on the theme of Christmas.
Diwali was over, and New Year was near
The season was changing and the air was filled with cheer
My sweet little daughter was five years old
It was the month of December and rather cold
She wanted a Christmas tree I was told
With decorations on it in red and gold
As she came to me holding her favourite toy
She said a Christmas tree would bring her more joy
I went ahead and bought her what she wanted
And then each year she took it for granted
Not only to put up a Christmas tree
But to buy Christmas gifts for all, she went on a spree
It became so festive for us all
Something we looked forward after each fall
Now Christmas we celebrate with zest each year
And feel love for friends and family far and near

Tuesday Mornings
Ranches Ladies usually meet on Tuesday mornings at Larte Restaurant in Studio One Hotel, Studio City from 10.30am – 12pm.
Please note: There is no meeting at Larte on Tuesday 19th December due to Carole’s Christmas Coffee Morning in Savannah. Ranches 1 (this is now fully booked).

Line Dancing Circle
The line dancers have been dancing to Christmas songs for the past 3 weeks. They are doing a great job.
The Line Dancing Circle meet at Melodica Dance Studio, near Waitrose in Motor City.
Wednesdays 10-11am for Intermediates and Fridays 10-11am for Beginners.

The Art Circle had a lovely class last week, with ladies working on some challenging projects.

The French Circle had their last meeting of 2023 over a delicious breakfast at Gray Brasserie in Dubai Hills Mall. During breakfast they enjoyed translating the menu and discussing their Christmas plans in French.

Walking Fitness Circle
The Walking Circle are enjoying early morning walks on Mondays.
Meet on Monday mornings at 7am outside the main entrance of Arabian Ranches 1 community shopping centre.
We will walk for approximately 1 hour 20 mins depending on route and distance. Stay for tea/coffee afterwards back at the community centre if you have time. New ladies are welcome to join.
