Far Yet Near

All those memories come flooding back
Suddenly I’m gripped with a feeling of lack
My children, who I raised for twenty years
Are far away busy, and I am in tears
They are good children and they are doing fine
But I am the one who keeps going back in time
I see a school bus on the road
And I see my children as they board
When I go for my daily walk
And see kids play, giggle and talk
I see my children play and run
And I start missing all the fun
I go to a mall to meet a friend
And I see kids hold their mom’s hand
Suddenly I go back in memory lane
I miss my children once again
As life moves on and we grow in age
We must let go and turn a page
Now they do, what I always did
Take care of me, they are no longer a kid
I held their hand, and now they hold mine
They make me believe everything is fine
Cooking fancy meals for my kids felt so good
Now I visit them and they treat me with the best of food
A movie at the theatre with nachos was our favourite past time
Now we drink wine and watch Netflix and Prime
My children have grown up to be independent and kind
There is just no reason to complain I find
As I see them move ahead in life
I feel my heart fill with pride
I don’t have to keep going back in the past
The love between us, forever will last
They may be thousands of miles away
They are always in my heart, I miss them… No Way!
Christmas Choral Concert
Enjoy an evening of Christmas Music and carol singing on Friday 8th of December at Christ Church, Jebel Ali. One of our members, Debra Dixon, is singing in the choir.
The concert is free but you can give a voluntary donation for the church. Refreshments will be available.
Festive Table Centrepiece Workshop

Tuesday Mornings
Ranches Ladies are meeting every Tuesday morning at Larte Restaurant in Studio One Hotel, Studio City from 10.30am – 12pm.
If you have not yet renewed your membership for the year 2023-24 you can do this on Tuesday morning at Larte Cafe, Studio One Hotel. Membership is required for RL activities and WhatsApp group. New members are also welcome to join on Tuesday mornings.

Volunteer Needed for RL Website
Do you, or someone you know, have skills for refreshing or updating websites? Ranches ladies is looking for a volunteer to help with our website. Knowledge of WordPress would be an advantage, but training can be given. Please email ranches.ladies@gmail.com

Afternoon Tea Circle
The Afternoon Tea Circle, led by one of our new members, Lou, enjoyed a wonderful afternoon treat at the Kempinski Hotel.

Gardening Circle
The Gardening Circle have a trip planned to Bean & Beyond Farm in DIP, on Friday 24th November at 10am. They will be learning how they are using waste coffee grounds to grow oyster mushrooms.
Walking Fitness Circle
The Walking Circle are now starting a bit earlier.
Meet on Monday mornings at 7am outside the main entrance of Arabian Ranches 1 community shopping centre.
We will walk for approximately 1 hour 20 mins depending on route and distance. Stay for tea/coffee afterwards back at the community centre if you have time. New ladies are welcome to join.

Poetry Circle
Last week, the Poetry Circle enjoyed reading and listening to poems on the theme of children.

Crochet Circle
The Crochet Circle, led by Debra, have been making napkin rings for Christmas.
They meet on Tuesdays from 12.30-2.30pm. New members are welcome.

The Yoga circle are now meeting on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8.15am for outdoor yoga.

The Line Dancing Circle meet at Melodica Dance Studio, near Waitrose in Motor City.
