Ranches Ladies Newsletter

Together with all the citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates, we mourn the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan. Following in his father Sheikh Zayed’s footsteps, Sheikh Khalifa led the United Arab Emirates with wisdom and benevolence, promoting peace and tolerance. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.
Due to the official mourning period, schools and many workplaces will remain closed today, reopening tomorrow.
Tuesday Mornings
Ranches Ladies are meeting on Tuesday mornings for coffee at Larte Restaurant in Studio One Hotel, Studio City (across the roundabout from the back entrance of Arabian Ranches 1) from 10.30am- 12pm. It is a great chance for existing Ranches Ladies members to catch up and for new ladies to find out about membership and activities.

RL Circles News
The number of Circles are growing, so it is not possible to fit all the Circles and activities on this newsletter each week.
Please check the Circles Calendar on the website. The May calendar will be uploaded asap.
The Bridge Circle are taking a break until September and The Hiking Circle will return in the cooler winter months.
Quilters Circle
The Quilters Circle enjoyed three days of absolute fun, frolic, laughter, and some quilting at their first in-person retreat for over 2 years.
From experienced quilters to newbies, everyone ended up picking some beautiful fabric and creating eye catching masterpieces. It was a great pleasure to welcome the overseas member via video conferencing too.
The last meeting of the 2021-22 season is scheduled for Monday May 16th on Zoom. From September 2022 they hope to meet in person every month again.

ATF Mahjongg Tournament
The ATF Mahjongg Circle, led by Supriya, had a successful and enjoyable tournament last week. A big thank you to all our amazing sponsors for the event. Literary Lunch Circle
The Literary Lunch Circle met on 12th May and had a great time discussing ‘The Secrets of Strangers’ by Charity Norman, over lunch at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club Restaurant.
The next book for June will be decided soon.

Book Circle
The Book Circle are currently reading ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ by Laura Dave – a mystery/domestic suspense about a man living a lie and his wife and daughter who struggle to discover who he really is. They will meet to discuss this at 9.30am on Friday 20th May.

The Art Circle meet on Thursday mornings from 10am to 12 noon to learn new techniques and create beautiful paintings. The venue may vary.

Walking Circles
The Walking Circle, led by Alex, are meeting (until the weather gets too hot) at 7am on Mondays outside Arabian Ranches 1 retail centre main entrance. They usually walk for about an hour, with coffee afterwards back at the retail centre.
The Beach Walking Circle, led by Monika, are meeting at Kite beach (Blue Villas parking) on Thursdays at 6.30am. They walk for around 7-8 km and stop for coffee afterwards.

French Circle
The French Circle meet to learn and improve their French on Friday mornings. The venue varies.

Pilates Circle
The Pilates Circle has now started on Thursday afternoons 2-3pm, at Optimal Fitness in Studio City. Gillian from Optimal Fitness is teaching the class and there is space for more ladies to join.
