Expo 2020 starts this week!
Expo 2020 Dubai begins on Friday, with a spectacular opening ceremony planned for this Thursday evening.
The October pass offers unlimited daily access for the month of October. It is available until for only 95 AED.
Entry is free for kids and youth up to 17 years, students, senior citizens 60 years+, and people of determination, but advanced booking is still required for free tickets.

Tuesday Mornings
Sadly, we do not yet have approval to restart our regular Tuesday social mornings, we will let you know if this changes.
In the meantime, some RL members and potential new members are meeting informally for coffee at LARTE restaurant in Studio One Hotel on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30am.

Membership Renewals
Thank you to all who have already renewed their membership for the year September 2021- August 2022. If you have not yet renewed, please do this as soon as possible.

Mahjongg Circle
The Mahjongg Circle are meeting to play on Mondays from 10am to 1pm, upstairs in Shakespeare and Co, Arabian Ranches 1.

Yoga Circle
Mariana is restarting yoga teaching on Mondays and Thursdays 8.30am. Venue and fee to be confirmed. The format will be 60 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes for tea and snacks.

Quilters Circle
Ranches Ladies Quilters are a group within Ranches Ladies who love creating with quilting, sewing and embroidery.
Monthly meetings are on the third Sunday of the month, currently online until further notice. There will be various activities, including inviting local and international quilting experts, to share their work and teach different techniques.
There is an additional membership fee to cover meetings and materials for Ranches Ladies Quilters. You are welcome to attend a meeting before deciding if you would like to join.

French Circle
For those who know some basic French but would like to improve and learn more, join the French Circle on Sundays from 10am. The venue varies.

Art Circle
The Art Circle, led by Rajul, meet on Thursday mornings to learn new techniques and create beautiful paintings. The venue may vary.

Literary Lunch Circle
The Literary Lunch Circle usually meet on the third Monday of the month for lunch to discuss a book they have read.
The current book is ‘A Home on Vorster Street – A Memoir’ by Razina Theba, about her life growing up in South Africa during the apartheid era. It will be discussed on Monday 11th October (date changed for this month).

Book Circle
The Book Circle meets on the third Sunday of each month at 10am to discuss a book which everyone has read prior to the meeting. Members take turns in suggesting books for the group to read and we try to cover a range of topics and authors. We mainly read fiction but occasionally non-fiction and biography.
The book for October is ‘Would I Lie to You’ by Aliya Ali-Afzal.
The planned books for November and December are ‘Away With The Penguins’ by Hazel Prior, and ‘The Beauty of Living Twice’ by Sharon Stone.

Circles restarting in October
Walking Fitness Circle
The walking circle is planning to restart on 4th October, when hopefully the weather will be starting to cool down. We meet at 7.30am outside Arabian Ranches 1 retail centre main entrance. We walk for approximately one hour at a moderate, but not too slow pace, stopping back at the retail centre for coffee afterwards.
No special equipment required – just normal trainers, maybe a cap or hat and a small bottle of water.

Gardening Circle
The gardening circle are also planning to get outside in the garden, restarting in October. What better way to beat the COVID blues than seeing new life springing up!
Our program usually includes visits to nurseries, interesting gardens and parks and occasionally talks by circle members on various aspects of gardening.
We also share gardening information and sometimes photos of our successes! Whether you have green fingers or not, everyone is welcome.

Cinema Circle
The cinema circle are planning to restart on Monday mornings from October. We usually meet at Vox cinema, Mall of the Emirates (provided there’s something good to see!) and follow the film with coffee and cake/lunch.

Uni mums is for those with kids at, or soon leaving for, university. They meet up for socialising and support.

Beginners French or Arabic
Rana Nazer would like to offer two new circles – Beginners French and Arabic. Day and time to be decided, but possibly 8.30am on Thursdays or 9-10am/10-11am on Tuesdays.

Do you like poetry?
Carole is hoping to restart the poetry circle. A theme would be chosen, with each person bringing 2 or 3 poems related to that week’s theme. A good opportunity for making new friends and interesting discussions over coffee.
