Good morning Ranches Ladies!
If you are observing Ramadan we wish you all the blessings of the holy month.
Our hearts go out to all who are suffering or have lost loved ones during the current pandemic, especially with the current situation in India.
Watching the news, along with the uncertainty about when we will be able to travel to our home countries and see our families again, can take a toll on our mental health.
How can we cope with stress and anxiety?
Today is World Laughter Day and ,without detracting from individual and global problems, we recognise the importance of humour in keeping our spirits up in difficult times.
World Laughter Day
World Laughter Day was created in 1998 by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement and is now celebrated annually around the world on the first Sunday of May.
The health benefits of laughter include reducing stress levels and boosting immunity.
Why not watch a comedy, meet or call an old friend for a laugh, or buy tickets for the Dubai Comedy Festival this month from 13th -22nd May?
Board Elections

Due to the low number of attendance / votes on the zoom AGM that was conducted Tuesday 27th April, all members have been sent an email regarding the election of new board members. Not Replying to this email it will count as a YES vote.
If you have any objections or concerns please let us hear from you.

Keeping up to date
We don’t yet know when our regular Tuesday social mornings will be able to restart. We hope this will become possible as COVID cases drop and more people are vaccinated.
In the meantime, please pop along to LARTE restaurant in Studio One Hotel on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 – 11.30am to meet Julia or Jeanette and find out about membership and activities.

RL Circles News
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, circle groups are meeting online or in socially distanced ways, where possible.

Art Circle
The Art Circle meet on Thursday mornings. Their latest project has been pointillism painting.

Walking Fitness Circle
The Walking Fitness Circle are continuing to meet, until the summer heat gets too much. They meet on Mondays at 7 am outside Arabian Ranches 1 Community Centre and walk in socially distanced pairs for around an hour. Those who can stay enjoy a coffee at Costa after the walk.

Book Circle
The Book Club meets on the third Sunday of each month at 10am.
The book for May is the psychological crime thriller ‘The Silent Patient’ by Alex Michaelides, which will be discussed on 16th May.
For those who want to get a head start, the upcoming books will be:
June – The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
July – Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner

Literary Lunch Circle
The Literary Lunch Circle continue to meet on the third Monday each month.
The May book choice is The Legacy by Caroline Bond, a powerful novel about love and loss, and what we truly pass onto our children.
It will be discussed on Monday 17th May.

French Circle
The French Circle is up and running virtually so if you would be interested in improving your language skills get in touch with Dominique on ranches.ladies@gmail.com. Classes are held every Sunday at 10am
Spanish Circle
The Spanish Circle has also restarted remotely this month led by Manoly. The times of the classes are:
Mondays 5.30pm for intermediates and Wednesdays 11.30am for beginners
Yoga Circle
Pilates Circle
On Wednesday at 2pm Philippa at Optimal Fitness is holding Pilates classes and offers RL members a discount on Zumba classes on Tuesday mornings. Email her on philippa@optimalfitness.ae
